Two men riding three-wheeled motorcycles collided shortly before 7:30 p.m. Friday on Interstate 10 near LaPlace, killing Louis Sevin Jr., 66, of Slidell.

The other motorcyclist, Richard Kline, 62, of Pearl River, was seriously injured and was taken to a Baton Rouge hospital.

A State Police investigation found that the two cyclists were traveling together in the left lane of Interstate 10 westbound near LaPlace when Kline’s cycle drifted to the right, causing its rear tire to hit Sevin’s front left tire.

The collision caused Sevin’s Harley-Davidson to leave the lefthand side of the road and Kline’s Cam Am to leave the right side of the highway.

Both cyclists were thrown off their vehicles. Sevin died at the scene.

Both men were wearing helmets, and impairment is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
