A man who was wanted on counts of first-degree rape and molestation of a juvenile was arrested Sunday morning, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the office, said 34-year-old Trevor Clifton was picked up at a friend’s house in the 400 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Harvey.

An arrest warrant was issued for Clifton after a 14-year-old girl said she was raped on multiple occasions over the course of a year, Fortunato said.

Clifton’s address is in Bridge City, where the crimes are alleged to have occurred. He evaded law officers for two days after threatening to commit suicide and fleeing his house on Friday, Fortunato said.
