A Veterans’ Gala held Nov. 11 by the New Orleans Mission drew hundreds of guests to the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. The event was a fundraiser for the many programs of the New Orleans Mission, including an 18-bed veterans’ dorm being renovated at the newly opened Giving Hope Retreat on the north shore.

This will offer homeless veterans the opportunity to complete a yearlong rehabilitation program designed to meet their mental, physical, social and spiritual needs, which is key to a successful recovery and a life-changing transformation. At the retreat, these men will break the cycle of homelessness and receive the tools to become productive, purpose-driven citizens.
