Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in grades K-12 were invited to take part in the 34th annual Deaf Track and Field Day, held April 9 at Wally Pontiff Jr. Playground in Metairie. The Deaf Heritage Month Committee and the Metairie Rotary Club sponsored the event. Track events included the 25- and 50-yard dash and the 100-yard relay. Field events included the running long jump and standing broad jump, along with a football toss, ring-toss basketball, bean bag toss, three legged race, croquet and parachute ball.
