The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified one of the victims from a double shooting in Algiers last week.

Jazzmine Marks, 23, was walking with a 20-year-old man at around 10 p.m. on Jan. 5 on the 800 block of Sumner Street when several suspects pulled up in a gray or silver Buick sedan and opened fire, according to police reports.

One of the bullets grazed the man above the eye, and another hit Marks in the abdomen.

An official in the Coroner’s Office said Tuesday that Marks was transported to Interim LSU Hospital and died from her wounds on Friday.

Police also believe the same Buick sedan used the in the shooting may have been involved in a hit-and-run incident nearby on the 800 block of Belleville Street on the same night, according to an NOPD news release.

The Fourth District Investigative Unit is running the investigation and can be reached at 658-6040.
