Update, 1 p.m. Tuesday:Power has been restored to most households in Orleans Parish after nearly 9,000 outages were reported earlier Tuesday.
At 1 p.m., only about 800 households were still without power. Entergy expects service to be restored within the hour.
A failed transformer has caused a power outage in areas of the Ninth Ward, leaving nearly 9,000 residences without power.
The outages began around 10:18 a.m. Tuesday, according to Entergy’s outage map. Shortly after noon, crews were making repairs, and power was expected to be restored by 1 p.m.
The substation issue caused a loss of power in the Bywater, Desire, Dillard and Florida areas, Entergy tweeted.
