When public television station WYES presented a special screening of the final episode of the British drama series “Downton Abbey,” the participants included several members of the Republican Women’s Club of Jefferson Parish.

The Sunday afternoon event at the Orpheum Theater looked like a scene from the early 1900s as men and women, dressed in period ensembles, promenaded into the theater lobby for Champagne and hors d’oeuvres.

Jean Rice, president of the Republican Women’s Club, was one of the judges for the costume contest.
