With more than 20 children’s story times and many children’s activities held each week throughout our 14 library locations, the library is a wonderful place for kids to develop a love of learning.
But the library doesn’t stop providing those opportunities once children become teenagers. We offer a wide range of teen activities including book clubs, movie screenings, homework clubs and many other free programs all designed to encourage teens to continue their love of learning at the library.
Applications are being accepted to compete in the teen “Bust-A-Rhyme” Rap Contest being held at The Martin Luther King Branch (1611 Caffin Ave.). Winners will receive prizes and the contest will be judged by local rap artists Shorty, the89 Boyz, and from the MelaNated Writers Collective, Ayanna Molina.
The contest is free to enter and open to Orleans Parish residents ages 11-18. Contestants can enter either the written lyrics or freestyle category and they can enter as a group or individually.
Registration is limited to 10 performances per category. To enter the rap contest, or for more information, call 596-2695 or email email@example.com.
The “Bust-A-Rhyme” Rap Contest will be held at 1 p.m. May 31 at the Martin Luther King Branch.
