A woman was killed in a hit and run on Interstate 10 in New Orleans on Sunday night.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the woman, 37, was driving westbound on I-10 near the Morrison Road exit around 9:30 p.m. when she got into an accident with a man, 27, driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer.

After the collision, the woman got out of her car and crossed the interstate on foot to talk to the other driver. When she crossed back, NOPD said, a man, 48, driving a Ford F-150 truck swerved to avoid hitting her and spun out in his truck.

"At some point during the collision with the F150 truck and additional passing cars, the victim was struck," NOPD said in a news release.
