New Orleans Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the killing of a 29-year-old man in New Orleans East.

Police found a man shot multiple times in front of an auto repair shop in the 7500 block of Chef Menteur Highway on Thursday. The victim, Joshua Jackson, died at the scene, according to police.

In the course of their investigation, detectives learned that a suspect in the case — Woodrow Johnson — wanted to turn himself in. Police said they then met with Johnson and brought him to police headquarters Thursday evening.

He was booked on one count of second degree murder.

Detectives also searched his home and found a handgun, though it’s not clear if that was the gun used in the crime.
