A 14-year-old boy was arrested Saturday about an hour after he and an accomplice robbed a 16-year-old in the 7700 block of Dwyer Road in New Orleans East, police said.

The victim told police he was standing at Dwyer and Wilson Avenue about 4 p.m. waiting for the 14-year-old, an acquaintance who was to sell him some headphones and tennis shoes. The 14-year-old arrived in a white Kia Sorento and told him to get in. Seconds later, the vehicle stopped near Dwyer and Rickert Drive, the victim said, and both the driver and his passenger, the 14-year-old, robbed him at gunpoint. They then drove away, leaving him stranded.

Detectives learned the identity of the victim’s acquaintance and found him at his home in the 4900 block of Corinne Street, where he was apprehended.

The driver of the Kia remains unidentified and at large.

Some of the victim’s property was recovered in a vacant lot near the robbery scene.
