Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Pitbull will be the musical guests for the 50th anniversary of the Endymion parade and extravaganza, WWL-TV reported.

Endymion officials held a press conference Tuesday morning, where it was also announced that former Superdome general manager Doug Thornton will be the grand marshal for 2016. Thornton said that he was "absolutely stunned and overwhelmed" when he heard the news.

The Endymion parade and extravaganza will be on Feb. 6, 2016. A new super float called Club Endymion will appear at the end of the parade in honor of the Superdome.

Altogether, there will be about 3,100 riders in the parade.

Artistic designer Henri Schindler said the theme for the 2016 parade is "Endymion Through the Years," which will honor past themes.

This past year, Endymion’s 49th parade processed along the traditional Mid-City route and into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, where more than 20,000 guests danced to the music of hit maker Luke Bryan, the grand marshal, at the extravaganza. The Wise Guys, Groovy 7 and Simply Irresistible also performed. Country music superstar Bryan was the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, the AMA’s Favorite Country Male Artist and Billboard Music Award’s Top Country Artist.
