Devin Lockett, a senior at De La Salle High School in New Orleans, has received a full, four-year scholarship to Tufts University in Massachusetts through the QuestBridge nonprofit, which works to increase the number of talented low-income students attending the nation’s best universities.
Lockett is president of the Student Council at De La Salle and has been a two-year member of the National Honor Society.
He was inducted into the school’s Squires’ Club, the junior honor society, as a freshman. He is a two-year member of the Spanish Honor Society, and, at the completion of his junior year at school, he was the recipient of the National American Citizenship Award.
During the summer, he spent a week at the Student Council Leadership Conference at Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches, two weeks in Spain on a soccer-oriented trip and a month at a “Leadership in the Business World” program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
He hopes to major in finance and economics in college next year.
