Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested a woman for allegedly making up a story about being robbed of her food stamp card in the parking lot of a Marrero grocery.

April Terrebonne, 32, of Lafitte called deputies to the parking lot of the Sav-A-Lot in the 5300 block of LaPalco Boulevard about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and said that a man named “Fuzzy” robbed her of the card, said Glen Boyd, a sheriff’s office spokesman.

Terrebonne told deputies that Fuzzy took the card then drove away.

During the investigation, however, detectives noticed inconsistencies in Terrebonne’s story about what happened, Boyd said. She agreed to an interview at the sheriff’s office’s Investigations Bureau and admitted on the way there that she had not been honest with investigators about what happened.

Terrebonne told investigators that she previously gave the card to Fuzzy to pay a debt and that he had not given it back.

Terrebonne was booked with false swearing and on an outstanding attachment.
