New Orleans police are asking for help finding two suspects wanted for robbing a taxi driver at gunpoint and stealing the cab, police spokesman Garry Flot said Saturday morning.

Police said the cab driver picked up a man and a woman at Canal and Bourbon streets about 5 a.m. Friday morning. Once the couple got in, the woman asked to go to the 100 block of South Telemachus Street.

When the cab driver arrived, the man pulled out a gun and demanded money from the driver, Flot said. The couple then ordered the driver out of the cab and fled in the car.

The cab was recovered shortly afterward.

The two suspects were described as a 5-foot-9 black man and a 5-foot-9 black woman. The couple were caught on surveillance video and can be seen here: http://youtu.be/_JpLAlqEEHQ.

First District Detectives are investigating the incident and can be contacted at (504) 658-6010.
