One man was injured in a shooting at St. Charles Avenue and Calliope Street Sunday, New Orleans police said.

Around 10:40 a.m., the victim and a male suspect met as the victim was walking toward a convenience store, the New Orleans Police Department said. A verbal altercation ensued, and the suspect allegedly produced a weapon, firing at the victim and striking him in the leg, police said.

The suspect fled toward Calliope Street and Loyola Avenue. He is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall with dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts with blue and white stripes.

The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
