Man, 41, critical after Franklin Ave. shooting
A 41-year-old man was in critical condition after he was shot Thursday night in Gentilly, police said.
The shooting happened about 7:50 p.m. in the 6100 block of Franklin Avenue.
The unidentified victim was struck multiple times, police said.
Police did not immediately identify a suspect or motive.
Motorcyclist killed after hit-and-run attempt
A motorcyclist was struck and fatally injured Thursday night while riding in Metairie, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
A state trooper said she saw Darwin Ferrera, 26, of Metairie, driving a 2001 Ford Expedition about 8:35 p.m. when he struck the motorcycle at Clearview Parkway and the south Interstate 10 service road.
Ferrera tried to flee the scene but was not able to because Ewin Zelaya’s bike was jammed under his SUV, said Col. John Fortunato, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Zelaya, whose age was not provided, was taken to East Jefferson General Hospital, where he died.
Ferrera was booked with one count of vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a license and three counts of child restraint violations. He had four passengers in the SUV, including three children.
NOPD seeks identity of unknown CBD robber
New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in a robbery in the Central Business District.
The robbery happened about 9:30 p.m. June 10 in the 500 block of Capdeville Street.
The robber implied he had a weapon by placing his right hand under his shirt, then ordered the victim to empty his pockets.
The suspect is described as a black man, about 35 years old and 5-foot-10 with a medium build. He wore a dark baseball cap, a dark bandana over the bottom of his face, a white T-shirt and dark pants. Police released a computer sketch of him Friday.

2 suspected of selling alcohol to minors
Mandeville police on Thursday arrested two people for allegedly selling alcohol to minors during an undercover operation.
Pamela G. Fleitas, 55, a cashier at Northlake Fuel, 3810 La. 22, and Samuel Ward, 56, a cashier at Value Bull, 500 N. Causeway Blvd., were each booked with one count of selling alcoholic beverages to customers under 21 years of age, Mandeville police said.
The charge carries a penalty of up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail.
Police seek person of interest in teen’s death
New Orleans homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in a killing in the St. Claude neighborhood.
Police on Friday released a sketch of a man they said might have information about a shooting that killed 15-year-old Corey Martin. He was shot about 7:20 p.m. June 8 in the 1400 block of Bartholomew Street.
The person of interest is described as a black man between 18 and 20 years old, 5-foot-11 to 6 feet tall, and about 150 pounds with an athletic build and hazel eyes. He wore a collared, aqua-colored shirt and brown pants and was armed with a handgun, police said.
The man fled, possibly in a black SUV, south on Bartholomew toward St. Claude after the shooting.
