Man indicted for taking stolen vehicle to Georgia

A New Orleans man has been charged with transporting across state lines a stolen vehicle that had been loaned to a murdered New Orleans couple, according to a statement from the Department of Justice.

Frank Mike Jr., 45, was indicted Friday by a federal grand jury and charged with interstate transportation of a stolen motor vehicle.

Prosecutors allege that Mike drove the stolen 2010 Dodge Caravan from Louisiana to Georgia.

The van, according to the Justice Department, had been loaned to Reserve residents Kenneth and Lakeitha Joseph in February. The couple disappeared hours later, and their bound, weighted-down bodies were eventually found in the Intracoastal Waterway in New Orleans East.

According to the statement, the van was later recovered by the Fulton County Police Department in College Park, Ga. Video surveillance showed Mike driving the vehicle.

If convicted, Mike faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Two hospitalized after shooting in Uptown

Two men were shot Friday evening in Uptown, according to Officer Frank Robertson, a spokesman for the New Orleans Police Department.

Robertson said police responded about 9:45 p.m. to a shooting in the 3900 block of Annunciation Street, where they found two men with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

Both men were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Teen sought in Central City shooting death

New Orleans police are continuing to look for a 17-year-old they believe is responsible for a Central City murder that occurred in mid-April.

Police have issued a warrant for Johntrell “John John” Washington in connection with the shooting of Racquel Gillard, 38.

The shooting happened April 14 in the 2300 block of Josephine Street.

Washington’s last known address was in the 3100 block of Cambronne Street. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Police seek N.O. East carjacking suspect

New Orleans police are searching for a man they believe is responsible for a carjacking in New Orleans East earlier this month.

According to a police statement, a warrant has been issued for Larry Rudolph in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred April 8 in the 10800 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

Rudolph is considered armed and dangerous.

Two men robbed in Terrytown

Two men were robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning in Terrytown, according to records from Jefferson Parish 911 headquarters.

The robbery happened about 1:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Delmar Street. The men were not injured.

Man stabbed Saturday night in Harvey

A man was stabbed in Harvey on Saturday evening, according to records from Jefferson Parish 911 headquarters.

The stabbing happened about 7:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of Rochelle Avenue. The victim’s condition is unknown.
