Two shot, one fatally Tuesday in Harvey

A 15-year-old girl was fatally shot about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of Apache Drive in Harvey, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said. The girl was shot in the chest and taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

About the same time, a 16-year-old boy was found shot in the 1000 block of Inca Drive in Harvey. He was taken to a hospital in “guarded condition,” spokesman Col. John Fortunato said.

Fortunato said both victims apparently were standing together on Apache Drive when multiple rounds were fired at them. The girl collapsed a short distance away on Apache. The boy managed to run around the corner to Inca, where he collapsed.

Crime scene technicians recovered a number of spent shell casings.
