Oscar-nominated actor John C. Reilly will reign as Bacchus in the superkrewe’s parade Feb. 15, the krewe announced Tuesday.

Rolling along the Uptown route on the Sunday before Mardi Gras with 31 floats, the krewe’s theme will be “Children’s Stories That Live Forever.” Favorite tales to be represented include “Polar Express,” “Pinocchio,” “Winnie the Pooh” and “The Jungle Book.”

“John C. Reilly is a consummate storyteller and entertainer,” krewe captain Clark Brennan said in a news release. “He will delight parade-goers with his outgoing style and love for children. He will be a memorable monarch indeed.”

The parade also will feature 30 marching bands, plus race cars piloted by Indy 500 drivers.

Reilly has appeared in more than 50 films, including three in 2002 that were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. He received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Chicago” and a Grammy Award for the song “Walk Hard,” from the movie “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.”

Special storybook themes for the 2015 parade will include Bacchus puzzles, sidewalk chalk, coloring books and small plastic building-block sets.
