The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said on Wednesday that it had arrested a third man suspected of involvement in an April shooting in Harvey that killed one man and left another wounded.
Spokesman Col. John Fortunato said a Crimestoppers tipster identified Avondale man Dashawn Butler, 21, as one of the shooters involved in the April 7 killing of Stacie Johnson, 21, on Clover Lane in Harvey. Probation officers and Homicide Detective Tommy Gai arrested Butler in a residence on Glendella Drive in Harvey on Tuesday.
Fortunato said that Butler admitted to police to being in the area with the other suspects who have been arrested, Javontae Simmons and Dorian Lonzo, but denied actual involvement in the shooting.
Butler was booked for second degree murder, attempted second degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
