A man’s body was found early Friday on U.S. 90 westbound near the General DeGaulle Drive exit, and police have determined it was a hit-and-run accident.

The man’s body was discovered around 3:34 a.m. Friday by a motorist on the roadway, the New Orleans Police Department said in a news release. The victim’s body was disfigured and lying in the middle of the roadway, NOPD said.

Investigators have not determined where the initial crash occurred.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
