A bicyclist found dead early Wednesday on Earhart Expressway in Jefferson Parish was struck by two vehicles that both fled the scene, officials said.
Louisiana State Police found a man’s body shortly before 2 a.m. on La. 3139 near the Orleans Parish line. An investigation showed that the man was riding his bicycle southbound near the shoulder of the road when he was struck from behind by a vehicle, State Police said in a news release. Troopers also believe the man was struck a second time by another vehicle.
Evidence collected from the scene indicates one vehicle may be a Toyota, State Police said. Both vehicles could have front-end damage.
The man has not been identified, and an autopsy will be conducted.
Anyone with information on the hit-and-run is asked to call State Police at (504) 471-2775 or Crimestoppers.
