Children in the Lower 9th Ward received free books May 10 from marchers in the second annual Street Library Book Parade.

Marchers dressed as story characters wound their way from the Guerrilla Garden on Charbonnet Street to the House of Dance and Feathers, the MLK branch library and Galvez Goodies on Caffin Avenue, Free Mission Baptist Church on Egania Street, and the Lower 9th Ward Street Library at 5445 Douglas St.

The parade was organized by Laurence Copel, whose library and bookmobile project gives free books to neighborhood youths. Books to Kids provided assistance.
