16 people robbed at graduation party

An armed man entered a graduation party in the 6200 block of Waldo Street, in the Lake Terrace neighborhood, about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

He demanded property from the 16 people at the party, then left by the back door.

Man shot while walking near South Claiborne

A 24-year-old man was walking on Gen. Taylor Street about 5 p.m. Saturday when an unknown number of occupants in a red vehicle, traveling eastbound on South Claiborne Avenue, opened fire at him, striking him multiple times.

He was taken to a hospital.

Man shot Friday morning in 7th Ward

A 20-year-old man was grazed by a bullet while working in his yard in the 1300 block of Elysian Fields Avenue about 10:40 a.m. Friday.

Two gunmen rob man Friday in Marigny

A 35-year-old man was approached by two gunmen in the 900 block of Spain Street about 10:45 a.m. Friday. He gave them his property, and they fled.

Same man apparently robs 2 in N.O. East

About 2 p.m. Friday, a man, 53, was approached in the 4900 block of Alsace Street in Village de l’Est by a man with gun in his waistband. The gunman demanded his property, and the victim complied.

About 15 minutes later, another man, 61, was approached in the 4800 block of Gilbert Street, also in Village de l’Est, by a man with a gun in his waistband. The gunman demanded the victim’s property, then fled in a white SUV.

Two men report rape on Airline Highway

Two men went to a motel in the 9300 block of Airline Highway with two other men. Once inside a motel room, the two assailants produced guns and sexually assaulted the victims, whose ages were not released by police.

The crimes were reported about 4:15 p.m. Friday.

Five robbed in motel on Airline Highway

In what police said was a related incident, a man, 18, brought two unknown men to a motel room in the 9300 block of Airline Highway later Friday afternoon. The armed men barged into the room, demanding the victims’ belongings.

A female hotel employee, 41, heard a ruckus and went to the room but was forced inside as well and robbed, as were the room’s three other occupants: a woman, 39, and two men, both 31, who were also struck with guns during the incident.

Hotel clerk robbed Friday in Treme

An armed man jumped over the counter at the Empress Hotel in the 1300 block of Ursulines Street about 9:30 p.m. Friday and demanded money.

He fled with an unknown amount of cash.

Man arrested in Mid-City stabbing

About 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Dominique Flowers, 30, argued with a man, 24, in the 400 block of South Jefferson Davis Parkway and then stabbed him multiple times, police said.

Flowers was arrested at the scene. The victim was transported to a hospital.

Man sought in theft of $30,000 tractor

The NOPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating James R. Hood, 37, who is wanted on counts of theft and possession of stolen property.

Police said Hood advertised a Bobcat Skid-Steer tractor, valued at $30,000, for sale on Craigslist. A contractor from Mandeville contacted him and made arrangements to meet him March 11 at Iberville and Marais streets.

Upon seeing the Bobcat, the contractor contacted a local dealer and learned the Bobcat was the property of Louisiana Landscape Specialist Inc. The contractor then contacted the business and learned the Bobcat had been stolen. Hood became nervous and fled, police said.

Pair rob unlocked vehicles in Plaquemines

Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies went to the Springwood subdivision in Belle Chasse about noon Friday after receiving reports of vehicle burglaries.

Deputies learned that between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., thieves had entered unlocked vehicles and stolen items, including electronic equipment and a checkbook.

Deputies took reports from four victims in the 700 block of Spring Thyme Drive and the 100 blocks of Ginger Court and Sunflower Road.

Two thieves were captured on a homeowner’s surveillance system.

Residents with surveillance systems are asked to review their video footage to see if it captured any of the crimes or suspicious persons.
