The Metairie Rotary Club recently held its Installation Supper with a band and banquet at the Metairie Country Club. Joey Nieto was installed as the new president.

The Citizen of the Year award was given to Bob Merrick for the charitable contributions his firm, Latter and Blum, makes to worthy causes.

Steve Mogle was presented with the Rotarian of the Year award for his service to the club.

Jackie Elliott was named a Paul Harris Fellow for her service to Rotary. One of the goals of Rotary is to eradicate polio throughout the world by vaccinating the total world population. A thousand dollars was donated to Polio Plus in Elliott’s name.

Don Borngesser, a newer member, was presented with a “Fast Start” plaque, for his jumping right in and doing the motto ‘Service Above Self’ through his faithful volunteerism.

Jennifer Esler received a bouquet from outgoing Metairie Rotary President Michael Martin for her work with collecting funds for Second Harvest Food Bank.

Dr. Lindhe Guarisco was given a bouquet of flowers for his enthusiasm for Metairie Rotary’s current fundraiser, the “Big Game Raffle.” There are 26 prizes of Saints games, hotel stays, dinners, LSU games, Tulane football season tickets and more.
