A 46-year-old Pearl River man was killed Sunday night trying to cross Interstate 10 West in Slidell after his vehicle broke down.
According to Louisiana State Police, the incident occurred near Oak Harbor Boulevard around 9 p.m.
The victim, Ricky Nunez, was traveling eastbound when his vehicle started having problems. Nunez pulled over on the right shoulder then started to cross the interstate. As he approached the center lane he was hit by a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by David Wolfe, 25, of Slidell.
Wolfe, LSP said, slammed on the brakes but couldn't avoid Nunez, who was pronounced dead on the scene.
Wolfe was also hit from behind by a 2005 Land Rover driven by Dreux Seghers, 52, of Ocean Springs, Miss.
Wolfe and Seghers both passed alcohol tests. No charges were filed against them.
