A fundraiser is planned this week to benefit a special group of people in our area.
InterACT NOLA will host an event titled “Bright and Tight Night” at 7 p.m. Friday at Southport Hall, 200 Monticello Ave., Old Jefferson.
Admission is $20 per person and includes food, refreshments and music by Margie Perez and her Funky Boy Band, Gravy, the MuffAlottas Dance Troupe and a performance by the InterACT NOLA members.
The members of InterACT NOLA are part of a theater group with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. They are clients of the Arc of Greater New Orleans. Arc is a nonprofit organization that serves people with intellectual disabilities and delays from birth through adulthood in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard parishes.

St. Agnes reunion
The St. Agnes Elementary School class of 1980 will hold its 35th reunion at 7 p.m. Saturday at 508 Shrewsbury Court, Old Jefferson.
The cost is $15 per person and includes food and setups.

The eighth annual Cancer Crusader’s Golf tournament, held recently at English Turn Country Club, raised more than $100,000.
All proceeds benefit cancer research in the greater New Orleans area.
Kathy and Mark Mitchell served as co-chairmen and were honored with a crystal trophy for their dedication to the tournament. They have co-chaired the tournament since its inception.
Mark Mitchell is a two-time cancer survivor.
Archdiocese presents award
More than 200 volunteer laypeople throughout the Archdiocese of New Orleans were awarded the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion in a special ceremony May 3 at the St. Louis Cathedral.
Archbishop Gregory Aymond presented the awards.
The Order of St. Louis IX award was established to honor individuals who have volunteered their time to the Catholic Church.
