Girl Scouts Louisiana East recognized outstanding adult volunteers at its annual meeting, presenting the Volunteer of Excellence Award to Michelle Kimbrough, of New Orleans, and appreciation pins to Barbara Owens, of Destrehan, and Pam Frederick, of Luling.

Kimbrough worked to provide learning experiences for her fellow volunteers as a facilitator for basic camping and other outdoor trainings, demonstrating her commitment to ensuring girls and volunteers enjoy a positive camping experience. In addition, she worked with a multi-level troop and lead the charge for her service unit as membership chair.

Owens continues to give her time to Girl Scouts even though her own daughters are now in college. Her effort led her service unit to have a tremendous increase in cookie sales. She was recognized as a role model.

Frederick managed the area Cookie Cupboard for the first time last year. A high pressure task, she was commended for how she handled the task with a positive attitude, helping the girls to have a successful sale. According to Director of Volunteerism Kari Volz, she is “the perfect example of how a mom of a Girl Scout can make a huge impact on the Girl Scout program in our community.”
