The Gulf of Mexico provides a lot for us, from seafood to natural resources to beauty and a way of life.

Now it looks like the Gulf of Mexico may also cleanse the air we breathe by quietly absorbing pollutants each night, according to a report by WWL-TV.

A recent study shows how ocean water cleanses air in coastal cities that are prone to pollution and smog. The cleansing process happens because the salty ocean absorbs and removes aerosols from the air we breathe at the surface.
