Two teenaged girls were robbed inside the abandoned Six Flags Amusement Park in New Orleans East on Sunday evening, New Orleans police said.
The girls, both 17 and one celebrating her birthday, were taking pictures when they were approached by four males with semi-automatic handguns about 5 p.m., police said in a preliminary report. The men demanded the girls’ property, police said, and fled in a white four-door sedan with a purse, cellphones and cash.
The park has been closed since Hurricane Katrina and is not open to the public. Despite occasional roles as a backdrop in films like “Jurassic World,” various redevelopment plans have all foundered.
