A man allegedly attacked an ex-girlfriend and then stabbed another man who tried to stop him near Jackson Square in the French Quarter Sunday, New Orleans police said.

Around 2 p.m. Sunday, Everett Williams, 50, confronted his ex-girlfriend and “attacked her” in the 500 block of St. Ann Street, New Orleans Police Department spokesman Aaron Looney said.

As numerous men reportedly tried to stop Williams, he allegedly produced a knife and stabbed one of the men several times, Looney said.

Both the victim and Williams were taken to area hospitals for their injuries. Williams will be booked when he is released from the hospital, Looney said.
