Man shot Saturday night on Austerlitz Street
A man was shot multiple times before 7 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Austerlitz Street in Uptown New Orleans, police said.
NOPD spokesman Officer Juan Barnes said the 53-year-old victim and Will Moffett, 35, were involved in an argument when Moffett produced a handgun and shot the victim multiple times.
Moffett fled but later returned to the scene and was arrested on a count of aggravated battery by shooting.
Barnes said the victim’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Armed man robs Lakeview coffee shop
Just before 9 p.m. Friday, an armed man walked through the unlocked back door of the NOLA Beans coffee shop in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue in Lakeview, police said.
He ordered an employee at gunpoint to take him to the safe in the back office. After she complied, he grabbed the money in the safe and fled.
The man was dressed all in black with a hood over his head and a bandana over his face.
Woman cuts man after argument Friday night
About 10:15 p.m. Friday, a man, 56, was arguing with Norma Pugh, 50, in the 3400 block of North Claiborne Avenue when she pulled out a knife and cut the man before fleeing, police said.
The man was taken to a hospital.
Man shot after saying he had no money
A man, 24, was shot in the leg and arm Friday night during an armed robbery in the 7700 block of Haney Drive in New Orleans East.
The man and a woman, 20, said they were inside the house about 11 p.m. when two armed men they knew entered and demanded money.
After the male victim said he didn’t have any, one of the gunmen struck him several times before shooting him.
Woman reports rape Saturday in N.O. East
A woman, 19, reported early Saturday morning that she was raped in the 7900 block of Dorsett Drive in eastern New Orleans. Police offered no further details.
NOPD seeking man in Dec. 31 killing
The NOPD said it is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Tyson Williams, 31, who it said may have critical information about the killing of Michael Cavanaugh, 34.
Cavanaugh was shot about 1 a.m. Dec. 31 inside a barbershop in the 9700 block of Lake Forest Boulevard. Officers found him lying on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He died later at a hospital.
Police said Williams is not a suspect at this time, but detectives would like to speak to him about the shooting.

Motorcyclist killed in high-speed crash
A Slidell man died in a motorcycle crash Thursday evening on La. 433 (Bayou Liberty Road) near Kimberly Lane in Slidell, State Police said.
Investigators said David Chester Loder Jr., 54, was operating a 1996 Honda Shadow motorcycle westbound on La. 433 at a high rate of speed about 5:30 p.m.
They said he tried to pass another vehicle on the right shoulder, but his motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway, entered a ditch and struck a culvert. Loder was ejected from the motorcycle.
Although he was wearing a motorcycle helmet, he suffered severe injuries and died later at a hospital.
Blood samples were sent to the State Police Crime Lab to determine whether Loder was impaired at the time.
