The New Orleans Police Department has released additional surveillance video capturing a brazen armed robbery during business hours Monday at Buffa’s Lounge, a venerable watering hole on Esplanade Avenue.

Two masked gunmen stormed into the bar at around 9:45 p.m., emptied the cash register and frightened patrons and employees.

The NOPD has described one suspect as a dark-complected black man, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He wore a red shirt and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

The second suspect was also a dark-complected black man, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, according to the NOPD. He wore a black top, a black knit cap and a black bandanna. He was armed with a black semiautomatic handgun with an extended magazine.

Arden Radosevic, a bartender at Buffa’s, has said there were only six people in the bar in the 1000 block of Esplanade Avenue, one of whom was passed out, when the two men entered.

“One of them screamed, ‘Get down,’ ” he said of the gunmen, “then he put a gun to one of the patrons’ heads.”

After robbing the man of his wallet, the gunman pushed his way behind the bar, forcing Radosevic to empty the cash register of about $1,200.

Jarret Rogers, co-owner of Buffa’s, has said this was the first time the bar had been robbed in the five years he’s owned it. He said Buffa’s has eight security cameras.

“I’m just thankful that nobody got hurt,” he said. “I count my blessings considering what could have happened and didn’t.”
