The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for help locating a murder suspect.

Boutte resident Larry Thompson, 35, is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that happened early Friday morning at Butt Cuts Bar in Hahnville, according to Sheriff Greg Champagne.

About 12:30 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that gunshots had been fired at the bar in the 200 block of Joe Louis Lane. Once there, deputies discovered a 23-year-old man on the floor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as David Scott, 23, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives later were notified of a second victim who arrived at St. Charles Parish Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. He was treated and released.

Thompson was identified as a suspect because of a dispute he had with Scott “over a female acquaintance,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Thompson on counts of second-degree murder and aggravated battery.

He is possibly driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala with Louisiana license plate XSN832, according to the Sheriff’s Office, and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The shooting occurred the day before his 35th birthday.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting or Thompson’s whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or Detective Lance Richards at (985) 783-1135. Anyone with information leading to Thompson’s arrest may be eligible for a cash award.
