A Belle Chasse man was arrested on Thursday for failing register as a sex offender when he moved to a new apartment next to a day care, Plaquemine Parish Sherriff’s Office said.
Dustin Ryna Thibodeaux, 25, of 118 E Street Apt. 1, Belle Chasse, was arrested in March for pornography involving juveniles, possession with the intent to distribute child pornography, computer aided solicitation for sexual purposes and indecent behavior involving juveniles, said Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cmdr. Eric Becnel.
In August, Thibodaux was convicted of crimes of indecent behavior with a juvenile and possession with intent to distribute marijuana and put on active probation for three years, Becnel said.
Last month Thibodeaux moved from Port Sulphur to Belle Chasse and his failure to register as a sex offender led detectives to obtain a search warrant for his apartment, Becnel said. Investigators found Thibodeaux’s clothes inside the apartment and later arrested Thibodeaux on his warrant.
He was booked into the Belle Chasse Lockup and remain in the Sherriff’s Office at the Detention Center’s custody with a $25,000 bail bond, Becnel said.
Detectives do not believe Thibodeaux was targeting children at the neighboring day care, but the day care and parents were notified of the arrest, Becnel said.
