One of two juveniles who escaped Friday from the Bridge City Center for Youth was caught Saturday in New Orleans, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office announced. As of Saturday evening, the second teen, 16-year-old Rashad Seals of Plaquemine, remained at large.
Riynell Nixon, a 15-year-old from New Orleans, was turned by family members, authorities said. Nixon had most recently been jailed on three counts of armed robbery and one count each of simple robbery and aggravated assault.
Seals had been incarcerated on six counts of residential burglary, according to Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. The youth was born and raised in Iberville Parish, according to Maj. Ronnie Herbert, of the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Herbert said Friday he believed the teen would attempt a return to the area where he grew up.
Authorities said they believed the teens had escaped through a hole in the exterior fence of the juvenile facility early Friday morning.
Anyone with information about the missing teen’s whereabouts is asked to contact local authorities by calling 911.
