  • HAHNVILLE HIGH SCHOOL: The Hahnville High School greenhouse recently received a donation of $500 in support of its project of growing cypress trees to be donated to coastal restoration programs. The greenhouse manager is Mary Hoffman. The money was raised by Spahr’s Seafood during its annual golf tournament.
  • MOVIE NIGHT: The Parents Club at Our Lady of Divine Providence School will screen “Back to the Future” at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, on the blacktop at the school, 917 N. Atlanta St., Metairie. Admission is free, and concessions will be sold.
  • FALL FAMILY FESTIVAL: The St. Matthew the Apostle Fall Family Festival will be Friday through Sunday, Oct. 16-18, at the school, 10021 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge. Fair hours will be from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. The Chee Weez will perform Friday at 8:30 p.m., the Molly Ringwalds on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Nashville South on Sunday at 3 p.m. New features at this year’s festival will be a Cuban food booth and a 300-foot-long zipline.   • NOCCA COLLEGE FAIR: The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts will hold an arts college fair, open to all high school students, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Chevron Forum at NOCCA, 2831 Chartres St., New Orleans. No reservations are needed.
  • FALL FETE: The Audubon Charter School 2015 Fall Fête will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Daneel Park, 5501 St. Charles Ave. at Octavia Street, New Orleans.   • SCAVENGER HUNT: The St. Rita Home and School Association will hold a Mother/Son Scavenger Hunt to benefit the parish food pantry from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 31, beginning in the school gym, 194 Ravan Ave., Harahan. The event is open to boys from age 2 through seventh grade, and costuming is encouraged. Admission is $15 per mother/son team in advance and $20 at the door.   • LOUISIANA SCHOOL FOR MATH, SCIENCE AND THE ARTS: The Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts is accepting applications from current freshmen, sophomores and juniors. The early deadline for completed applications is Feb. 1, while the regular deadline is April 1. These are priority deadlines, meaning students who have completed all the parts of their application by these dates receive priority over students who have not completed the process. This does not mean the school stops accepting applications. The Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts is a state-supported residential high school with competitive admissions. As a public school, there is no tuition and only a nominal room and board fee that can be reduced or waived. A completed application includes the student’s portion (short answers), parental permission, two teacher recommendations (one from an English instructor and one from a math instructor), one counselor recommendation, a recent (within the last calendar year) ACT or SAT score, and an official campus visit.   • ST. ANN CATHOLIC SCHOOL: The St. Ann’s Men’s Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, in the cafeteria of the school, 4921 Meadowdale St., Metairie.
  • COCHON DE LAIT: Immaculate Conception Parish and School will hold a family Cochon de Lait from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the school, 601 Ave. C, Marrero. The benefit will feature live music by Junior LaCrosse and Sumtin’ Sneaky and an old-fashioned wiener roast with special activities for children. Dinner service will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. and will include succulent roasted pork with Cajun sides. Parents will help their children roast their own hot dog. Dessert and beverages including beer and wine for the adults will be served. The band will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. While adults dance the night away, supervised activities will be available for children. Tickets are $30 for adults through Oct. 21 and $35 at the door. Tickets for children and youth are $15 with a child’s plate or $20 with an adult plate. Tickets can be purchased in the parish rectory, 4401 Seventh St., Marrero or the school office.   • ST. MARY’S ACADEMY: The alumnae association of St. Mary’s Academy will hold a number of homecoming events Nov. 6-8. Alumnae Day will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the school, 6905 Chef Menteur Highway, New Orleans. That evening at 7, there will be a Toast ’n’ Paint event in the Fine Arts Building; the cost is $30. The Blue & Gold Ball will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at St. Mary’s Academy Austin Place; tickets are $65. On Sunday, Nov. 8, there will be a Homecoming Mass at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament-St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 8321 Burthe St., and a Big Hat Brunch at noon at Lace, 6978 Martin Drive.
