Brigitte Gomane will present a French cooking class highlighting the cuisine of the Basque country, which straddles the border between France and Spain, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at the Southern Museum of Food and Beverage, 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., New Orleans.

Basque specialties include Bayonne ham, sheep’s milk cheese, espelette pepper, and jam- or cream-filled gateau Basque.

Admission is $65 for members of the Alliance Française de La Nouvelle-Orléans and $80 for others, and includes the class and a three-course meal with wine. For reservations, visit
