Update, 7:10 p.m.

Traffic was cut off to a portion of Interstate10 West in Metairie after the road was found to be buckled.

Crews closed the left lane about 4:30 p.m. after a concrete panel in the left lane near Power Boulevard buckled due to the heat, damaging a 12-foot by 5-foot section of the roadway.

The closure caused massive backups in the area.

Repairs were completed about 6:30 p.m. after crews chipped out the existing concrete and replaced it.

Traffic was cut off to a portion of I-10 West in Metairie after the road was found to be buckled.

The Louisiana State Police reported the road issue just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on I-10 West at Power Boulevard. The closure is causing backed up traffic in the area.

State Police said they are working with DOTD officials to fix the road. The DOTD reported just after 5 p.m. that the left and center lanes are both closed.
