The next phase of the $24.5 million project to replace the deck of the Interstate 310 Hale Boggs Bridge will begin at 8 p.m. Sunday, when the two northbound lanes of I-310 will be detoured onto the southbound side.

One southbound lane will still be available.

With the detouring of the northbound traffic, the entrance ramp from La. 18 to I-310 North on the west bank of the river will be closed. Motorists wishing to enter I-310 North from La. 18 may use La. 3127 or U.S. 90.

In addition, the exit ramp from I-310 North to La. 48 on the east bank will be closed. To reach La. 48 from I-310, it is recommended that motorists exit at U.S. 61 to take La. 50 or La. 626.

This phase of construction is expected to last until mid-April.

The project involves removing and replacing the deck of the bridge and also will include minor maintenance repairs.

The entire project is expected to be completed by mid-June.
