Duck adoptions are underway for the fifth annual Rubber Duck Derby, which will take place at 4 p.m. May 18, at the Orleans Avenue bridge over Bayou St. John during the Bayou Boogaloo. Proceeds from the Rubber Duck Derby will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.
For a chance to win prizes, ducks can be adopted for $5 each, $25 for six or $100 for 25. Each duck is assigned a race number and entered into the derby.
Through May 3, rubber ducks may be adopted at any Capital One bank branch in the New Orleans area. Adoptions also will take place from noon to 6 p.m. May 10 at the Zatarain’s crawfish boil at Champions Square in New Orleans and at the Bayou Boogaloo festival. Online adoptions at www.no-hunger.org will end at 2 p.m. May 18.
