A 39-year-old man died late Sunday when his motorcycle ran into the rear of a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck, Darnell Harrison, 31, was charged with vehicular homicide and failure to yield, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 10:15 p.m. on Chef Menteur at the intersection of Dale Street. His identity was withheld pending notification of family members.

The victim’s Kawasiki Ninja motorcycle was westbound when it ran into the rear of a 2014 Toyota Tundra, causing the truck to swerve into another lane, where it was struck by a 2010 Ford Mustang. Drivers of the Toyota and Ford were not injured.

The incident remains under investigation. Blood and alcohol tests are pending.

The Orleans Parish coroner will release the victim’s name and conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
