Two women and three men were robbed at gunpoint in five separate incidents in six hours in New Orleans late Monday and just after midnight Tuesday morning, according to a police log.
The spate of stick-ups started at Ursulines and Treme streets about 6:20 p.m., when a woman, 29, was approached by a man who demanded her property. The man fled with her purse and cellphone.
Next a man, 41, was approached by multiple robbers while sitting in his truck in the 8000 block of Lakeshore Drive near the New Canal Lighthouse about 9:15 p.m. The robbers pistol-whipped him, then stole his truck and belongings.
Another man, 37, had a gun put against his head about 9:20 p.m. in the 10300 block of Flossmoor Drive in New Orleans East. The suspect made off with the victim’s vehicle.
Then, about 11:25 p.m., a woman in the 300 block of North Diamond Street in the Warehouse District was forced to hand over her purse to a man with a handgun. He fled.
Finally, a man, 42, in the 3000 block of Dauphine Street in Bywater was taken by surprise by a man with a handgun who forced him to hand over his cellphone and wallet about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday.
