A 14-year-old girl went missing last week after leaving Slidell High School, and police are asking for the public’s help in finding her.

Jania Washington, 14, was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Oct. 20, leaving the school, the Slidell Police Department said in a news release Tuesday morning. Law enforcement authorities believe that she is still in the Slidell area, but could be in New Orleans.

Police believe that she could be in danger because of her age, but foul play is not expected.

Washington is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 125 pounds, has a dark complexion and has long, wavy black hair, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Slidell Police Department at 985-643-3131 or CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111.
