A woman was raped by an unknown intruder who broke into her home in St. Roch early Monday morning, the third such attack in less than a week.
Police said an unknown person entered woman’s residence in the 2200 block of N. Villere Street at around 1 a.m. on Monday. Authorities provided no further information on the assault in a preliminary offense log.
On Thursday in Holy Cross, a woman was raped inside her residence in the 6000 block of Chartres Street at around 1 p.m. And on Wednesday in the 800 block of N. Lopez Street in Bayou St. John, a 28-year-old woman told police she was raped at around 7:45 a.m. by a man who broke into her house and robbed her.
New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Michael Harrison said Monday that detectives are probing all three cases, but that police are not ready to make a statement on whether they might be connected.
