Man shot in Desire neighborhood Friday

A man was shot Friday night in the Desire neighborhood, according to Officer Frank Robertson, a spokesman for the New Orleans Police Department. Robertson said the shooting happened about 9 p.m. in the 1300 block of Bartholomew Street.

The victim was shot in the chest and transported to a hospital in critical condition, according to Robertson.

No further information was available.

Police seek person of interest in thefts

New Orleans police are looking for a woman they said is a “person of interest” in an aggravated burglary that occurred Friday evening and a carjacking that happened last month.

Police said they are looking for Shameka “Moonie” Patin, 27, in connection with the incidents.

The carjacking occurred about 1:30 a.m. June 11 in the 800 block of Belleville Street, the statement said. The aggravated burglary occurred in the same block about 6 p.m. Friday.

Anyone with information about Patin’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Robert King or Detective Michael Duzmal at (504) 658-6045.

Police investigate two carjackings

Two carjackings were reported Friday evening and Saturday morning, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The first incident occurred about 4:20 p.m. in the 4000 block of Old Gentilly Road.

The victim, a 56-year-old man, was approached by two armed men who demanded his vehicle. The man complied and the men fled in his car.

The second incident occurred about 1:45 a.m. Saturday in New Orleans East.

Police were called to the 6800 block of Cindy Place, where they said an armed man forced a passenger out of a vehicle at gunpoint while the driver was inside an apartment. The man then took the vehicle.

No further information was available about either incident.
