FIT NOLA PARKS: Free fitness activities are offered at three NORDC Parks: Taylor Park, 2600 S. ART CLASSES: Jamar Pierre and Ivan B. Watkins are offering Treme Homecoming art classes and community workshops at the Treme Recreation Center, 900 N. Villere St. Free intermediate and advanced classes for children from kindergarten through eighth grade are offered from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through August. Free community art workshops for all ages will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, and Saturday, Aug. 2.
Participants will learn about painting, drawing, mural design, the history and culture of Treme and contribute to a work of public art that will be installed at the Treme Recreation Center. The program is presented in presented in partnership with the Arts Council of New Orleans.
