A Kenner man was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force after he was accused of trying to murder his pregnant girlfriend Saturday.

Kenner Police Department spokesman Lt. Brian McGregor said Durrell Brian Joseph, 19, kicked in the door of his 20-year-old girlfriend’s apartment and began beating and stomping her, making her lose consciousness.

The victim was found covered in blood and with injuries to her forehead and eye, police said. She was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries.

McGregor said Joseph attacked the woman, who was pregnant, because she tried to end their six-month relationship.

In December, police said, Joseph stabbed the same woman in the back with a knife.

Joseph was arrested at his home in Kenner on Tuesday and booked on counts of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery.
