The New Orleans Track Club will celebrate its 51st anniversary with half-mile and 3-mile running and walking races at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Festival Grounds of City Park.

The event will include a clinic with instruction on race-walking and food and activities for participants of all ages.

During a ceremony immediately following the races, five inductees to the New Orleans Track Club Hall of Fame will be recognized. Additionally, four $1,000 scholarships will be presented to local high school runners who are active participants in the New Orleans running community.

Club members and nonmembers are encouraged to run or walk the New Orleans Track Club’s Anniversary Race. Registration is open at runnotc.org. ; Cost is $15 for youths 20 and younger, $20 for NOTC members and $25 for others. The registration fee will go up Sunday, Aug. 10 Race-day registration opens on-site at 7 a.m.

A portion of proceeds from the New Orleans Track Club’s Anniversary Race benefit St. Mary’s Residential Training School, a nonprofit residential care and training facility serving children and adults with developmental disabilities.
